New Wave was founded by Sarah Gavlak in 2018. The current Board of Directors are Beth Rudin DeWoody, Barry Blumberg, Gopal Rajegowda, Rena Blades and Sarah Gavlak. Over the years, Advisory Committee members have included Franklin Sirmans, Isolde Brielmaier, Amy Phelan, Ann Tennebaum, Yvonne Force Villareal, Joanne Cassullo, Sanford Biggers, Jill Bernstein, Jane Holzer, Lisa and Richard Perry, and other prominent leaders in the field.

Katerina
Llanes

Katerina Llanes is a curator and creative producer based in Miami. She received her BA in American Studies and Studio Art from Smith College and her MA in Curatorial Studies from CCS Bard.

Prior to New Wave, Katerina curated the exhibition and book titled MAKING MIAMI, chronicling the contemporary art scene in Miami during the late 90’s/ early 2000’s. She has worked with Miami based organizations PAMM, Locust Projects, Lemon Yellow, Oolite Arts, Exile Books, Faena Arts, Dacra, and Bas Fisher Invitational to create exhibitions and programming since 2013.

Katerina served as Manager of Public Programs at the Museum of Arts and Design in NYC where she founded the Eye on a Director cinema series, highlighting the work of underrepresented filmmakers; RADIAL, a performance series intersecting music and art; and SEEDING an eco conference on economy and ecology with design magazine PIN-UP. Katerina also led Pérez Art Museums’ Time Based Art Program in their inaugural year commissioning new work by Devonté Hynes + Ryan McNamara, Jacolby Satterwhite + Total Freedom + Trina, Yemenwed, Spencer Yeh, Oneohtrix Point Never, DIS Magazine + Future Brown, SOPHIE + AG Cook + QT among others and has curated projects for Printed Matter in NYC and MOCAtv in Los Angeles.

Ellie Hayworth Murray

Ellie Hayworth is a strategic external affairs and public relations executive, and founder of Hayworth, a boutique consultancy championing intrepid ideas in art, design, and culture. With a focus on artist-centric and mission-driven clients in South Florida, New York, and beyond, including Powerhouse Arts, The Bakehouse Art Complex, and New Wave, Hayworth crafts tailored PR and marketing strategies rooted in storytelling, sustained visibility, and long-term impact. Ellie acts as a trusted partner to artists, nonprofits, art fairs, and institutions, delivering strategic insight, thoughtful messaging, and measurable results.

She holds a B.A. in Communications Studies and Art History from Vanderbilt University and an M.A. in Art Business from Sotheby’s Institute of Art in New York.
