Art Residency

New Wave provides support for under-represented artists across diverse backgrounds. Since its founding in 2018 by gallerist Sarah Gavlak, we have served over twenty artists and produced dozens of public programs for the Palm Beach communities. Artists receive an unrestricted $5,000 stipend, housing and an artist studio in West Palm Beach for 6 weeks. Domestic travel, up to $300 roundtrip, is also covered by the residency.

Upcoming Residents

Ann Lewis

New Wave is proud to announceAnn Lewis as its spring 2026 resident. During her 6-week stay in West Palm Beach, Lewis will realize a series of social practice activations centered around her installation at Rohi’s Liberation Station. Her Artist Talk will take place on Friday, March 6 from 2-4PM for New Wave Art Wknd.

Ann Lewis is a multidisciplinary activist artist who uses painting, installation, social practice, and participatory performance in public spaces to explore themes related to American identity, power structures, and justice through feminist pedagogy, community, and myth. Her work speculates on a future bereft of violence through communal creative healing sessions, the embodied contemplation of definitive autonomy, and nonviolent modes of creation. After earning her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin, her career began in New York City's street art scene and has evolved into large-scale public works.
